History of Rifle Airpark

The history of RIfle Airpark has spanned three decades and has shown the great dedication of its developer, Airport Land Partners and its predecessor, to furthering the economic development climate of Western Colorado.

1973 Rifle Land Associates (RLA) acquires the property currently known as Rifle Airpark

  • Beginning of many dedications to public entities
  • 1978 Dedication of 266 acres for Garfield County airport expansion
  • 1989 Dedication for airport runway extension
  • 1981 Mamm Creek Industrial Park Preliminary Plat Approved
  • 1986 Co-Generation Power Plant constructed and annexed to City of Rifle

1997 Airport Land Partners ("ALP") Acquires Property

  • 1999 Dedication of 46 acres for Road and Bridge Facility
  • 1999 Dedication of 1.3 acres for Joint Fire Station
  • 2000 Extension of Rifle Utilities through ALP property including Sewer Interceptor and 1 million gallon water storage
  • 2004 Airport Road rebuilt and expanded to three lanes
  • 2005 City of Rifle and ALP agree to undertake Master Plan
  • 2006 Donation of 14 acres for Rifle Colorado Mountain College Campus
  • 2007 Master Plan submitted to and approved by City of Rifle
  • 2007 CMC West Garfield Campus is completed and opens
  • 2008 Dedication of 27 acres to County for Airport expansion
  • 2008-2009 Rifle Airpark PUD and Annexation Submitted and Approved
  • 2010 Preliminary Development Plan and Master Tract Map Plat Submitted
  • 2011 Garfield County Regional Airport improvements completed
